Australian meat pie floater


Austalia’s contribution to gastronomy is apparently and stereotypically, various exotic meats, also grubs.  Novelly, the Adelaiden favorite pie floater — meat pie plopped upon or in, a bowl of pea soup, usually topped with a tomato sauce, like ketchup, but described as less sweet and thinner.

Typical pea soup with a little liquid smoke; the pies were preferred on the side.  The little pies make great little snacks, as well, the pastry cut into 4″ circles, filling placed between 2, and crimped.  Super simple dough recipe with very delicious veggie filling from the vegan recipe digest.  Carnivorous stylings are along the lines of that found at Food Network.
